Strong Towns Happy Valley

Hello All,

After some time of little communication, we have been working to pressure the Borough Council to get the Borough Staff to release a timeline on the continuously delayed and stalled zoning re-write. Though they did release a timeline for public hearings, however, in a recent press release, they delayed the process again. Unfortunately Borough Council has again let down their constituents and has delayed the zoning re-write. This process has not been swift, it has been going on for months, if not years, with the last zoning hearing taking place in March of 2024. From this time the council has delayed and pushed back the date, giving very little information to the public, or council on what the status of the project is and how it is coming along.

There are a few members of this community, that are openly against building new housing, and finding any way to solve this housing crisis that allows people to modify their lots, reduce lots sizes, and build dense development. Its as simple as that.

State College borough is contracting this re-write, and should be dictating the status of its re-write, but instead, continues to delay while focusing their spending and energy elsewhere. As a community, we need to act to hold the council and staff accountable to the people who elected them or pay their salary. We do not want another failed attempt at delivering grandiose promises.

If you can, please attend council meetings and during public hour show your support for density and annoyance with these delays. There will be people there tonight, May 12th to show our discontent in the first meeting since the delay and you can too!
