March Newsletter and 3/14 Meeting!

March 13, 2024 | Categories: Newsletter

Good morning, Strong Towns Happy Valley!

We hope you’re having a very lucky March and a great start to spring. First of all, we wanted to remind you that we are meeting next week on Thursday (3/14) at 6:30 in the State College Municipal Building! We will discuss last Monday’s zoning meeting and the informal traffic study from February. We also will plan other social events (such as sign painting for future council meetings)!

The speed study part of our crash analysis was successful. We got some more information about the general speed of traffic along a popular State College road, West Park Ave, which was unfortunately the site of a fatal crash last fall. Hopefully, knowing general patterns about car traffic along this road will better inform us on how hazardous speeds can lead to unsafe situations for pedestrians and motorists alike.

This might interest you all! Penn State Extension is hosting a FREE webinar on how local governments work. “What is Pennsylvania Local Government?” will take place from 2:00-3:15 p.m. on 3/21, and from 6:00-7:15 p.m. on 3/25. For more information, and to register, visit: https://www.psu.edu/news/agricultural-sciences/story/learn-more-about-local-government-pennsylvania-during-free-webinar/. This should be a really helpful resource that is open to all members of the public!

Once again, we meet THIS THURSDAY in the Municipal Building. We will see you there!
